Why should you hire a birth photographer?

Updated: Jan 27, 2020

Hiring a birth photographer is one of the best investments you can make. Just think about not having to worry about remembering each tiny detail from one of the most memorable days of your life. That right there should be reason enough, right?

I've compiled a list of the top 6 reasons why you should hire a photographer to capture your birth story.

1. Like I said above, the memories. Having these photos to gaze upon for years later. Every time you look at them, you hear your baby's first cry, you feel that moment you locked eyes for the first time, you remember the pain that was all worth it. The way your whole word just turned upside down in the most beautiful of ways.

2.Capturing the tiny details that you would otherwise miss. Those tender moments with your spouse, your friends and family eagerly awaiting the arrival of your little one, things like your room number, and your nurse's name.

3. I want you to be there. In the moment. Labor is hard work. I want you to focus on your breathing, focus on your body, and what it was made to do without worrying about what pictures are being taken. That's what I am there for.

4.This is one of the most important, so that your spouse can focus on YOU! This is so important. A lot of the time, the spouse is busy trying to capture a moment instead of focusing on you. I want him/her to be there, rubbing your back, holding your hand, feeding you ice, whatever it takes to be your biggest cheerleader.

5. Quality and professionalism is also super important. An Iphone can take a good image but with my knowledge and skill, knowing how to manipulate light and shadows into the image I want to deliver to you, that makes for an amazing image. As a birth photographer, I also know how to position myself in a birth setting to capture the story as it unveils without being in the way of your amazing support system.

6. These photos are honestly the best postpartum gift you could have besides that beautiful bundle you already brought home. Especially when the reality of newborn life and sleep deprivation sets in. Once you get your album back from me (yes, your birth story package comes with a printed album!) all those feelings just come rushing back.
